- Prevent children from playing near tree trunks or stumps
(they often house wasp nests)

Do not walk barefoot in grass. Bees may be foraging on small flowers and some bees live in colonies on the ground

Take care when on picnics, especially when eating fruit, or sweet drinks out-of-doors, which may attract insects
- Be aware when sunbathing, if you are wet or sweaty, or covered in suntan oil, it may attract insects
- Do not wear brightly coloured, flower-patterned clothing, which may attract insects
- Stay calm when there is a bee or wasp about, flaying hands can make them feel threatened
- Check your car for bees or wasps before getting in
