- Before you go out for a ride or walk, or go on holiday, check the pollen calendar as well as pollen count forecasts – why not register for our pollen count service
- Take your holidays at the seaside, where there is less pollen
- Keep your windows closed in the late afternoon, when the pollen count rises
- Make sure your car is fitted with an effective pollen filter
- During the pollen season drive with your car windows shut
- Mowing the lawn is by far the most harmful exercise for anyone allergic to grass pollens and the mould that grows on grass
- Some tree pollens, e.g. horse chestnut are relatively heavy and so do not travel very far; making them easier to avoid
- Wear sunglasses to prevent eye irritation
- Shower and change when you get home
